Q & A: Apparel Fabric Stores in Atlanta

We love receiving questions from you that relate to sewing, knitting, or anything crafty, really! We recently received a great question about where to purchase materials for apparel sewing, and we'd love to share our tips with everyone. Click more to read our recommendations!

Q: Can you recommend a really good apparel fabric store in the Atlanta area?

A: We have two favorite fabric stores in the Atlanta area, and both can be used for apparel but for different types of apparel.

If you're sewing with basic cottons or cotton voile, Intown Quilters in Decatur is our #1 fabric shop in the area. They have a huge assortment of modern fabrics, with great prints for any occasion. Their selection changes frequently so it's always fun to pop in. From time to time they'll stock rich cotton sateen blends, thicker knits, and velveteens, so it's a great place for those specialty fabrics in fresh, modern prints and colors.

If you think you'll be sewing with a larger variety of materials (polyester, wools, laces, and silk), then we recommend Gail K Fabrics on Cheshire Bridge Road near Lindbergh/Lenox area. They have tons of stacked tube bolts, with a huge variety of materials for finer clothing construction and costume materials. They also have a huge assortment of trimmings, zippers, and buttons.

Here is the contact info for both:
